Every year, more than half a million people experience homelessness in our country, and South Louisiana is no exception. On any given night, over 1,000 people in Acadiana and Baton Rouge – men, women and children of all
Of all of the businesses that start each year, only 21% of businesses make it to their 20th anniversary, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That is about one in five.
While 25 years old in life is still considered young, 25 years in business seems old. I say that as the person who has been with BBR the longest – for the entire 25 years.
What I have learned is that succeeding in business takes profound stamina. It takes a deep desire and a whole lot of continuous work to build a successful company. And for those of you who are in the throes of building your own company, you will know just what I mean.
Building BBR required me to pick myself up every time I got knocked down and drag myself to open my computer or into the office to plow through whatever challenge was presented.
The good things were not hard to overcome. They were the fun times, the successes, the wins, the joys, the fun, the prideful accomplishments. But the things that made success possible for me and for BBR was the downside – losing employees, facing economic downturns, losing client accounts, having to pivot practices and learning from mistakes. And as unpleasant and challenging as those things were, those were the things that stimulated improvement and growth.
It wasn’t about all that we’ve done right, it’s been about how we wiggled out of what went wrong. We were powered by a profound desire to do better and to deliver good work and a good place to work. Our improvements have consistently paid off and shaped how the BBR of today was built.
Of all of our success, I am most proud of our commitment to deliver goodwill and growth to the businesses we serve, the people we employ and the communities in which we live. And in that spirit, BBR is dedicating our anniversary year to 25 Do-Good activities. So please visit our BBRTurns25.com website and keep up with all of the activities we are engaged in throughout this year.
Thank you for being a part of our past, our present and hopefully our future. It’s been a great 25 years and I know we will be around for a lot longer because we have a team with the moxie to do so.
