This year, BBR Creative’s Hygiene for Humanity is celebrating its 10-year anniversary of hygiene inequality philanthropy by partnering with nonprofit organizations in South Louisiana to raise awareness and supplies. Over 3,000 people experience homelessness in Louisiana every day, leaving many without bathrooms, shower facilities and resources to maintain healthy hygiene. Lack of access to even these basic requirements can significantly affect the health and well-being of those experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness.
To close this gap, Hygiene for Humanity has helped provide thousands of hygiene products and supplies to individuals experiencing food, shelter and hygiene insecurity since 2014. Currently, BBR is collecting hygiene products to benefit Catholic Charities of Acadiana and the Christian Outreach Center of Baton Rouge.
Ben Broussard, Catholic Charities’ Chief of External Affairs, says that donations play a vital part in the Stella Maris Center, which provides showers, restrooms, and laundering facilities to those experiencing homelessness. “Those in-kind donations are critical to making an operation like this work. Every bit helps us to serve a very vulnerable clientele who is often in need of these specific things.”
Dr. Rev. Brian Sleeth, the Christian Outreach Center’s Executive Director, says, “The Christian Outreach Center has hundreds of visits per month from the homeless community, and items like hygiene products and kits, along with underwear and socks, are essential needs. We’re excited to partner with BBR to ensure these necessities continue reaching those who need them.”
Donations will be accepted throughout the month of July. To donate directly through the nonprofits’ Amazon wish lists and learn more about the hygiene products needed, please visit bbrcreative.com/hygiene.
In-person donation sites are also available. Donations can be dropped off at BBR Creative in Lafayette (413 S. Pierce Street Lafayette, LA 70501) or Baton Rouge (3347 Nicholson Drive, Suite A101, Baton Rouge, LA 70802).
“As part of our company’s purpose, we aim to foster goodwill and growth in our communities,” says Emily Burke, BBR CEO, “and it’s crucial that we support these local nonprofits who continue to provide vital services for others.”
