Danos Now Offering UL 508A-Listed Control Panels

GRAY, La. – Danos’ Automation Services manufacturing group is now certified to produce UL-listed industrial control panels (ICP). ICPs produced by Danos can carry a listing mark demonstrating compliance with the UL 508A standard. This mark provides evidence of third-party certification to North American safety standards to the purchaser of the panel. 

In order to receive this certification, Danos’ automation panel shop employees underwent training and inspection by UL representatives. By following the UL standard for the construction of ICPs, Danos-produced panels are fully compliant for installation to the National Electrical Code. The UL Listing Mark on an Industrial Control Panel is widely recognized and accepted by all municipal inspection authorities.

“This certification allows us to offer our customers UL-listed control panels that are reliable, safe and compliant with the UL 508A standard,” said Felix Dominique, manager of automation services for Danos. “That means we can provide custom control solutions that meet all relevant industry benchmarks for quality.”

The UL 508A standard for the construction of industrial control panels, which applies to both mass-produced and custom panels, provides guidelines to panel builders on various issues including proper component selection, wiring methods and calculation of short circuit current ratings. UL considers an ICP any assembly incorporating two or more pieces of industrial control equipment or related control circuit devices, provided with interconnecting wiring and terminals for connections in the field.
