LAFAYETTE, La. – The American Advertising Federation of Acadiana awarded $2,000 in student sponsorships to five ULL students at the organization’s 2nd annual Student Showcase luncheon Friday, May 22.
Student sponsorship funds were awarded as follows:
– $500 to Alice Retz, Senior, Graphic Design Major at ULL

“AAF Acadiana is always proud to highlight the emerging talent in our market, and these rising stars are truly the boldest, the brightest and the best,” said Kellie Viola, AAF Acadiana president and art director at BBR Creative.
Sponsorships were awarded based on four areas of criteria: academic excellence, willingness to expand one’s advertising knowledge outside of the classroom, an essay discussing an example of a recent successful local or national advertising campaign, and a brief description of the applicant’s career goals and intentions if awarded a sponsorship.
The AAF Acadiana Student Showcase connected college students studying in a related field of advertising, such as public relations, advertising, graphic design, broadcasting and marketing, with local industry professionals. Students interacted with professionals, showcased their portfolios and presented their résumés for internship and career opportunities.
