(Houma, La.) – Chet Morrison Contractors recently announced the hiring of industry veteran Michael Brown as General Manager of Marine Construction. Brown has 35 years of experience in the commercial diving industry, most recently an eight-year tenure as Vice President and General Manager for EPIC, the commercial diving business unit of TETRA.
Brown’s hiring reflects Chet Morrison Contractors’ continuing commitment to the long-term sustainability of its diving and marine construction divisions. Brett Blanchard, Vice President of Marine Construction, explained that Brown’s “wide-ranging experience and leadership, particularly on issues related to diving safety, make him a great fit for Chet Morrison Contractors.”
Brown is an active member of several industry associations and committees, including the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee (NOSAC) where he is serving a three-year term as Offshore Diving Representative. He has also served on the board of directors of the Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI) for more than 20 years and during that time has served four terms as President and 16 years as Chapter Chairman of the Gulf Coast for ADCI.
He began his career as a tender in 1977, and has since held positions at all levels of the offshore industry, from diver all the way to vice president. Brown has also delivered presentations to industry audiences and written a number of articles for trade journals.
“I’m excited to begin a new chapter with Chet Morrison Contractors,” said Brown. “They share my commitment to safety and industry leadership, and I look forward to the continued growth of the Marine Construction division.”
