Records Over $100 Million in Charitable Contributions and $50 Million in Grants
(Lafayette, La.) – In a recent national CF Insights survey of community foundations, the Community Foundation of Acadiana ranked third among most active grantmakers. CFA also announced they’ve reached the benchmark of $100 million in charitable gifts and $50 million in charitable grants.
Although community foundations and non-profits are often ranked purely based on total asset size, the more accurate measure of an organization’s effectiveness is its grantmaking activity. The CF Insights survey calculated grantmaking activity by dividing each foundation’s total assets by total grants. By this measure, CFA is third among all community foundations in donor generosity and grantmaking activity.
“We believe the best way to measure a community foundation’s effectiveness is grantmaking activity—not total asset size,” says Raymond Hebert, President of CFA. “Though we have grown tremendously and are proud of these achievements, we feel our true value to the community is our ability to connect generous people to the causes they care about. This ranking speaks volumes about the generosity of Acadiana.”
In the same survey, CFA also ranked 36th nationally in Most Gifts per Capita and was in the top 100 community foundations for Most Activity Volume. More information on the CF Insights 2011 survey can be found atwww.cfinsights.org.
In other news, CFA will hold its signature annual event, the Leaders in Philanthropy Awards Luncheon, November 1 at the Cajundome Convention Center. To buy tickets or get more information, please visit www.cfacadiana.org.
