Community Foundation of Acadiana Establishes Hurricane Isaac Response Fund

(Lafayette, La.) – The southern Louisiana Gulf Coast region has been affected by damaging winds, rain and flooding as a result of Hurricane Isaac’s landfall early Wednesday. President Obama has declared Louisiana and Mississippi as Major Disaster Areas. To benefit communities and individuals affected by this natural disaster, Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA) has established the Hurricane Isaac Response Fund. This fund will provide immediate relief and long-term recovery resources to those in the affected areas.

Community Foundation of Acadiana’s core purpose is to connect all generous people to the causes they care about. In 2005, the Foundation received and distributed more than $11 million for relief and recovery in Acadiana as a result of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, including a $2 million grant from the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund. CFA’s unique capacity to partner with state and local governments, businesses, philanthropists and other nonprofit organizations has proven to be effective in directing resources to those in need.

CFA has created a unique online portal to enable donations to the Hurricane Isaac Response Fund. Anyone wishing to aid in the recovery of south Louisiana may give to the fund via CFA’s website or may also embed the fundraising widget on their own site. Any organization wishing to enable donations to the fund from their own site should click the “EMBED THIS” button at the bottom of the online form to reveal the code. This code can be copied and pasted onto any website or blog.

Community Foundation of Acadiana stands ready to assist the people of south Louisiana with recovery and rebuilding in the wake of this natural disaster. Any assistance in informing the public about this opportunity to help with the recovery is greatly appreciated.

Community Foundation of Acadiana is south Louisiana’s premier philanthropic organization. CFA’s core purpose is to connect all generous donors to the causes they care about. In 2012, Community Foundation of Acadiana was recognized among the Top 100 community foundations in the country as #3 Most Active Grantmaker, #36 Most Gifts per Capita, and #97 Most Activity. Additional milestones include over $100 million in cumulative gifts and over $50 million in cumulative grants. Learn more at
