(Lafayette, La.) — On November 19th, Lighthouse Family Church hosted “A Day of Thanksgiving” event in Parc Putnam downtown. In partnership with other area groups like Salvation Army, Servnlove, The Family Church, Ark of Lafayette, Bethany World Prayer Center’s men’s group, and the 220 Interns, LFC sponsored a day of caring for those in need in the Lafayette community.
Hundreds of meals were served; clothing, gift cards, and non-perishable food items were distributed; and live music was provided by the LFC team and Decisions Tour. This inaugural event was also supported by many area businesses, including Logan Farms, Chick-Fil-A, Albertson’s, Raising Canes on Pinhook, Wal-Mart, Wing Stop, The Grand Theatre on Johnston, Sonic and Pizza Village.
Pastor Ty Cook organized the event as a day of caring and outreach to those most in need in the Lafayette community in celebration of LFC’s first anniversary. “It’s our responsibility as a church to represent Jesus to the world. We’re His hands and feet. It’s in our hearts to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and lead the lost to Him,” said Cook. LFC hosts Sunday services at The Grand Theatre on Johnston St. at 10:00 AM. With a steady increase in attendance, LFC anticipates a move into a new facility by 2013.
