Each year, Forum 35 in Baton Rouge presents ArtMelt, a curated exhibition of Louisiana artists—the largest in Louisiana. The event showcases the high quality and variety of local artistic talent, and provides a venue for Louisiana artists to receive professional exposure. Held at the Louisiana State Museum in Baton Rouge, the event receives support and participation from Louisiana galleries and merchants, and is attended by both artists and art collectors across the region.
Out of hundreds of entries, I was thrilled to have a piece of my work chosen to be one of 65 displayed in the exhibit. My selected piece, “Leap,” is mixed media created digitally and with graphite. I completed it in 2010 after a visit to New York.
A preview party was held on the evening of Thursday, July 14. I attended, and was honored to have my work displayed among some very talented artists. The top floor gallery of the Louisiana State Museum displayed sculptures, paintings, prints and multi-media installations. I met other artists and came away from the event proud and also inspired.
For those of you who don’t know, BBR Creative keeps me on my creative toes as the Senior Art Director. But I’m also an artist at heart, and I love to draw. I draw whenever I can, and lately I’ve come to also be known as a fine artist. I’ve had solo shows in New Orleans, Lafayette and New York and have also been included in several juried group exhibits.
So if I’m not designing packaging, logos or brochures for BBR’s esteemed clients, you may just find me hanging around an art gallery, sketchbook perpetually in tow.
