Frank’s Named one of Four Finalists for Woelfel Best MechanicalEngineering Achievement Award
(LAFAYETTE, LA) — Frank’s Casing Crew & Rental Tools, Inc., the Lafayette-based multi-service tubular company, was named a finalist for the 2011 Best Mechanical Engineering Achievement (BMEA) award presented by the International Petroleum Technology Institute.
The recognition was in honor of Frank’s Extended Range™ tools that are a series of elevators and spiders that allow tapered strings to be run without swapping out tools and with little or no adjustments.
Each set of tools can handle a range pipe sizes, and together the whole series can handle pipe sizes ranging from 3 1/2″ to 30″ and have ratings ranging from 500 tons to 1250 tons. This development is another step in Frank’s history of innovation.
“Frank’s is honored to accept this nomination,” said Jeremy Angelle, Frank’s Department Manager of Special Operations Group. “The Extended Range™ series of tools reduce rig time and can create a safer work environment by eliminating tools swaps.”
The Woelfel Best Mechanical Engineering Achievement Award recognizes a product, device, or system displayed at the Offshore Technology Conference that best reflects innovation and/or practical use of mechanical engineering in solving problems, improving design or maximizing performance.
