The holiday season is upon us and everyone is bustling to finish their Christmas shopping. If the task of buying gifts for corporate friends, colleagues, clients, vendors or co-workers has fallen on your list of things to do before Dec. 25, then you’re in luck! We’ve got some fabulous ideas that are sure to make you or your business a hit this holiday season.

For your co-workers try: (6) 8 cookies from flourpot cookies, (7) The Keep Calm and Carry on tote bag from Decorative Things, (1) personal desktop speakers from the Container Store, (8) these groovy notepads from Rusell and Hazel or (3) the Tazo Gift Set from Starbucks.

For your boss and clients, these gifts are sure to impress
: (10) a functional piece of art — the Michael Aram cheese board from Williams and Sonoma, (2) a basket of gourmet goodies appropriately titled the best of Dean and DeLuca, (11) exotic truffles from Vosges Haut at Saks, or (4) delicious chocolate-covered, Christmas-themed strawberries from Shari Bari’s or membership to a wine of the month club courtesy of the Wine Cellar.

Finally, a great gift for anyone philanthropic in your life is a donation in their name to a great cause — two of my favorite charities are (5) St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and (9) Heifer International. Donations can be made on both of their websites and it’s a great Christmas gift for the person that has everything!

Happy holidays and peace to everyone in the new year!

I must admit I’m just like the rest of you. If I hear about an offer that sounds too good to be true, I immediately dismiss it as “too good to be true.” I have learned this lesson the hard way — usually relating to some type of exercise equipment that promises miraculous body-sculpting results with little to no effort. These hopeful purchases always end up in my attic waiting for the next garage sale. So when a sales rep for a local computer-training company first tried to sell me his services essentially as “free” through the Small Business Employee Training program (SBET), I was 100% skeptical and determined not to get suckered into his scheming web. But after a little investigation and research, I uncovered a true gem of government program that, over the years, has benefitted BBR immensely. And, yes, it really was FREE!

The basic premise of the program is this: If you are a Louisiana company, your employees can each take up to $3,000 worth of computer training courses per year and have those fees reimbursed by the state after the appropriate paperwork is submitted

Client news:

The Ragin’ Cajuns Athletic Department now has an official Facebook page! Check it out and become a fan. In little over a week, we’ve eclipsed all other Sun Belt Conference team Facebook fan counts. Let’s keep the momentum going. If you haven’t already done so, click here to become a fan.

We’ve just completed the production of our third campaign promoting season ticket sales for Ragin’ Cajuns athletics. The football television spot began airing a few weeks ago and it makes me wish tailgating started this Saturday! Look for your favorite player and check out Coach Bustle’s moves, too. The BBR team had a great time getting the Ragin’ Cajuns fired up for the 2009 season.
