Make a Resolution

I was trying to explain resolution to someone the other day when I realized that we think in these terms every day. However, it can be a complex issue for someone who has never had to work with image resolution before. It is becoming important for more people to understand a little about what makes an image look clear vs. blurry when submitted to a blog, Facebook post or to a photo gallery. This is not an attempt to explain all of the details of resolution — just the basics to get you on your way to getting quality images up on the web. (more…)

Branding Bovines

For this episode of Side Stitch, I chose to explore the wide-open pastures of advertising. Bovine advertising, that is. Below are some ads and environmental graphics that a design/ad agency run by cattle could hypothetically produce.

Now, I’m particularly proud of the Mad Cows bit at the end. I’ll spare you additional bovine puns, but I will let you know that I had had a few more mock ads that didn’t make the cut. One included a pitch to a horse-run business, promoting  high-end farm equipment. The tagline would have been “The UltraPlow. With a plow like this, you’re just along for the ride.”
